RESULT: DismissedWife Arrested for Battery Prevails in Criminal Case
The police arrested a woman for allegedly attacking her husband in the marital home. The prosecuting authority charged her with simple battery. After the police arrested our client, her husband filed a petition for an injunction against domestic violence in family court. After taking testimony for several hours, the judge dismissed the petition for the injunction. The lawyers at DMT ordered a transcript of the proceeding which was provided to the chief prosecutor in domestic violence court. After thoroughly reviewing the scathing cross-examination conducted by the attorneys at DMT, the case was dismissed by the chief of the domestic violence unit.

Our client had previously been arrested in Miami, Florida for armed cocaine trafficking. The cocaine transaction occurred in Coral Gables in a warehouse on video. Due to the strength of the case, the defendant entered in a cooperation contract with the Coral Gables Police Department and Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office. Our client got caught up in a federal cocaine trafficking investigation. The feds indicted our client for conspiracy to traffic in cocaine. After a week long trial, the Miami defense lawyers at DMT obtained an acquittal in the case. Our defense strategy relied on the fact that our client was merely setting up drug deals pursuant to his contract. After winning the trial, DMT was successful in obtaining probation on the state armed trafficking charge.

A college student from the mid-west shipped 60 kilograms of marijuana into the country. Customs intercepted the package and made a controlled delivery to our client. Our client, a sergeant in the United States Army, was accused of striking and abusing his wife, while driving in their automobile. The Miami State Attorney's Office alleged that our client committed an assault and battery against his wife when he struck her in the face several times causing facial lacerations. A client caught at Miami International Airport with over a kilo of heroin, as he attempted to enter the United States from Venezuela, received a minimal sentence, despite facing a twenty-five (25) year minimum mandatory prison sentence. The client was accused of carrying over a kilo of heroin inside his luggage, as he attempted to go through customs at the airport. He was arrested and taken into federal custody, where he eventually confessed. DMT worked diligently to show that the defendant's actions did not warrant the statutory twenty-five year prison sentence. The criminal attorney was able to convince the federal judge presiding over the case to hand down the most lenient sentence allowed. The defendant was sentenced to just four years in a federal work camp in Miami, thus saving him over 21 years in prison on a heroine trafficking charge.
